How To Make a Number 80 Birthday Cake

A cake shaped like the number 80 is a fun and eye-catching way to celebrate such a significant milestone. It instantly highlights the occasion and makes for memorable party photos.

For added convenience, you can purchase number-shaped cake pans on Amazon to make the baking process quick and easy.

Since you’ll be baking two separate cakes, why not have some fun with it and use two different flavors? Your guests will love choosing their favorite!

2 Ways to Make a Number 80 Cake Without a Special Pan

Here are two simple and creative ways to make your own number 80 birthday cake at home.

1. Number 80 Cake Using Circle and Square Pans

Birthday Cake Decorating Ideas - You don't need a special pan to make a number-shaped cake. Click to see how to make number cakes with ordinary pans!

This handy diagram from Cake Central shows how easy it is to make a number 80 cake just by using round and square cake pans.

To make the cakes without the center, you can either put an empty greased can inside the empty cake pan and then pour the cake batter around it, or you can use a can or bowl as a template to cut the center of the cake out after baking.

Then just assemble the cake as shown in the diagram and decorate as desired.

2. Number 80 Cake Using Rectangular Pans

Here’s a quick (under 2 minute video) showing you how to make a number 80 cake using a 9×13″ pan.

You can either make your own number stencils from paper or cardboard, or buy similar stencils to the ones used above on Amazon.

Classic Sheet Cakes

Rectangular sheet cakes are a timeless and easy option for an 80th birthday celebration. With the number “80” beautifully piped on top in frosting, you can customize the design with favorite colors, floral accents, or themed decorations.

This style is perfect for serving a crowd and allows plenty of space for a special message or name.
